TLC was founded on my extensive experience in conventional home, timber frame, log home, and barn design/build and sales coupled with a decades of interest in energy efficiency. I’ve built exotic sun space additions, weatherized very old homes and worked on large commercial structures. I have a stack of receipts from the chiropractor that is testimony to it all!

I’ve chosen to use my experience working with companies and clients that are committed to quality and practice reverence for the environment. Well crafted, well designed structures of native wood properly situated make for a durable and “green” building. The life cycle cost of good building materials and practice is a bargain compared to the life cycle cost of junk. Particle board and plastics (petroleum based carpeting, vinyl siding, vinyl windows most insulations etc.) are fodder for landfill.  Using materials of short duration duplicate labor costs many times over in the undoing and replacing of what otherwise should have had a much longer life span. The high cost of low cost building is unsustainable.

Every project has budgets. Dollar budgets, time budgets, space issues to name a few. There are always limiting factors. The challenge is to do the best you can within those constraints. In all the years I’ve done this money budget is always the first concern but in the end no one ever said they regretted doing it right.
